Air Racer Number 84, "Stiletto"

Description:

Number 84,Stiletto - In 1984, engine builder Dave Zueschel, with partner Dennis Schoenfelder, set out to build a highly modified P-51 racer for Dallas real estate developer Alan Preston. Dubbed Stiletto, the aircraft is created from various parts of different P-51 Mustangs as well as newly machined pieces, incorporating many unique features. To begin with, the familiar trademark belly scoop common to all Mustangs is removed, relocating the radiators to the forward edges of the wings. This echoed the changes made by Anson Johnson to his number 17 Mustang debuting at what was to be the final Cleveland Air Races that took place in 1949.
