It is September
of 1942 over the Aleutian Islands,
and a P-40E has just taken a "tiger's bite"
out of a Rufe-a float-equipped Zero fighter.

Curtiss P-40E Warhawk "Tiger's Bite"

I tell you what, when I first saw tnis piece, it even startled me. Can you imagine what the pilot of that putt putt float plane must have felt like?!

Many of the Curtiss P-40E Warhawks had a color scheme similar to this one. Claire Chennualt's son, John Chennualt, pilots this Tiger to another victory.

This piece by Craig Kodera sure would b fun to mat and frame, making it pop out even more. This piece is from the artist's personal collection.
